Jeanna Gomez is the owner of Gomez Counseling and Consulting Services (GCCS), and Trauma Healing and Recovery Center in Houston, Texas. She comes with 25+ years in clinical and trauma recovery experience. Jeanna is a Complex Trauma Specialist and Relational therapist who utilizes Somatic Experiencing including SE Touch work, Integral Somatic Psychology, Brain Spotting, EMDR, Experiential Boundary and Movement work and Pia Mellody’s attachment/developmental trauma PIT model in her work with clients. GCCS offers private counseling to individuals, couples, and groups.

She is devoted to providing healing from trauma and has found these models to be most effective in the resolution of accumulated stress, trauma and nervous system dysregulation. Jeanna also conducts her own intensive workshops and groups entitled “Boundaries Saying Yes to your No, A Somatic Healing Workshop”; “Ignite! Your True Self: Reclaim your Warrior Goddess A Women’s Empowerment Circle”; “Living Life Claiming Your Voice” Family of Origin Intensive; and the “Somatic Side of Shame” to name a few.

Jeanna spearheaded bringing the Somatic Experiencing Professional Trainings to Houston in 2017. In her journey with Somatic Experiencing, she became the first Latina SE Practitioner in Houston, was the Lead Training Assistant for the Houston & St Louis trainings and now she is the first Latina Faculty member for Somatic Experiencing International (SEI) in North America. She is now the faculty trainer for Houston and Austin Texas trainings and looks forward to establishing more in the U.S and abroad. For SE students: she offers Individual Case Consultations as well as Group Case Consultations at all levels. For SEP’s: She offers coaching and mentoring sessions for those wanting to enhance their skills.

Rifah Islam

MSW Student and Volunteer

Hi! My name is Rifah Islam. I am a Master of Social Work student at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work (GCSW) and expect to graduate in May 2026. I am an aspiring clinical social worker passionate about empowering and supporting adults, teens, and young adults from diverse backgrounds on their healing journeys. I am especially drawn to culturally sensitive practices and aim to create affirming spaces for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, and others whose identities have been historically marginalized.

Currently, I work with adults and adolescents through my internship and volunteer experiences. As a student clinician, I have been receiving training in various therapeutic approaches, including Psychodynamic Therapy, DBT, CBT, ACT, Mentalization, and Strengths-Based practices. In addition to my education and training, my identity as a South Asian, Muslim woman guides my practice and influences how I hold spaces for others in their healing.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to volunteer with GCCS and to continue learning, especially in the areas of trauma work and Somatic Experiencing!
